- November 2022: MatS PhD student Sadikshya Pandey joins the Poerschke group to work on a project studying salt crystallization dynamics relevant to marine turbine engines.
- August 2022: Eeshani Godbole successfully defends her dissertation and is off to GE Global Research.

- November 2021: MatS PhD student Kimberly Lopez-Zepeda joins the Poerschke group, co-advised by Prof. Mara on a project studying fracture is semi-brittle materials
- October 2021: Eeshani Godbole received Graduate Excellence in Materials Science (GEMS) Diamond Award from the Basic Science Division of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS)
- August 2021: Our new Oxy-Gon high-vacuum annealing and hot pressing furnace delivered and installed.
- June 2021: MN Futures grant awarded collaborative research on the use of nonthermal plasmas for alloy synthesis.
- May 2021: Atharva passed his qualifying exams and advanced to candidacy! Great work!
- April 2021: David gave invited talks on characterizing CMC oxidation and data-driven research on new coating materials in the 8th International Congress on Ceramics (ICC8)

- April 2021: Our customized Arcast Arc200 vacuum arc melter was delivered and installed.
2020
- April 2020: David awarded a Young Investigator Program (YIP) grant from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to study surface reaction phenomena in refractory multi-principal element alloys.
- April 2020: Brady is selected as a NASA Space Technology Graduate Researcher. This fellowship will support his research on in-situ synthesis of refractory ceramic composites for the next four years.
- April 2020: Paper about garnet phase stability in the Y-CMAS system by Eeshani and Nikhil accepted in the Journal of the American Ceramic Society
2019
- December 2019: David awarded a Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) grant from the NSF Ceramics Program to support the development of new, oxidation-resistant ceramic composites.
- November 2019: Graduate students Brady Bresnahan and Atharva Chikhalikar join the group. Welcome!
- September 2019: David gave a keynote talk about efforts to understand oxidation phenomena in SiC-CMCs at the High Temperature Ceramic Matrix Composite (HT-CMC) conference in Bordeaux, France.
- September 2019: Our SUGA SPS-630Sx current assisted densification system was delivered.
- May 2019: PhD Student Eeshani Godbole passed her preliminary exam and advanced to candidacy. Congrats!
- April 2019: Undergraduate members Uma Venkata and Nikhil Karthikian presented posters about their UROP research at the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium. Great job!

- August 2018: Our new 2000ºC-capable NETZSCH STA 449 F3 simultaneous thermal analysis system for TGA, DTA, and DSC was delivered. Time to melt some high-temperature materials!
- August 2018: Undergraduate members Bengt Symstand and Mikayla Roth presented posters about their UROP research at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium. Great job!
- July 2018: Prof. Poerschke gave a seminar as a Visiting International Professor at Beihang Univeristy in Beijing, China and gave invited talks at the Symposium on Advanced Materials for Aero-engines in Bejing, China and the 12th International Conference on Ceramic Materials and Components for Energy and Environmental Applications (CMC-EE) in Singapore.
- June 2018: Prof. Poerschke gave invited talks at the 14th International Ceramics Conference (CIMTEC) in Perugia, Italy and at the Engineering Conferences International TBC-V meeting in Irsee, Germany.
